"'Pax Eiscum' ('Peace be unto them'). This duet for flute and guitar orginates in the composer's setting of a poem by Carol Rumens, which contemplates a group of Jewish children trying to learn about the richness of their ancestry and about their ancient tongue. The horrors of the war are, perhaps, forgotten, but maybe they are not truly 'of this world.' They are blank pages waiting for the pen of history to inscribe some fate that also awaits them. It may be a different fate from that of their grandams, but we can only hope that it will be more peaceful."
