"In this work, I envisioned the virtue of Wisdom as the goddess Hagia Sophia, or Divine Wisdom. With this in mind, I composed the Prelude in the spirit of ancient Grecian music—with the guitar and the transverse flute replacing the cithara and the syrinx. The melodic mode is predominantly Dorian on D; the initial measures of the Prelude alternate in gentle 6/4 and 7/4 meters, then stay in a flowing 5/8 meter for the remainder of the work."
