"Chromatic Fantasie is an excursion into the far reaches of tonality. The precise tuning of the Pythagorean chromatic scale used in this work—a chain of 12 untempered perfect fifths—produces phantom harmonies where none were thought to exist. In a musical universe of tones and overtones, there can be nothing atonal—but there can be a complexity of the harmonic."
