Dillon Ford, "Spirit of the Baroque" (2001)

The Capriccio in D Minor first appeared in 1980. This first version was created as a Christmas gift for Ford's classmates at Harvard, to each of whom a separate movement was dedicated. A charming series of eight surprisingly sophisticated studies in Baroque style, the Capriccio clearly evinces the influence of Johann Sebastian Bach, although no identical dance sequence is found in any of the German master's keyboard compositions. Individual pieces from Capriccio may be performed separately or recombined into shorter suites to accommodate a given player's personal taste and technique.

This MIDI file features all eight movements, separated by brief pauses.
