Valentin Bogolubov (nominated by Dillon Ford)

Pianist Vladimir Bogolubov is a native of Latvia. His musical studies, pursued both in his homeland and at the Moscow Conservatory, were extremely comprehensive, and included not only the keyboard but also violin, voice, and conducting. After his return to Latvia, Bogolubov established his reputation as a concert artist and educator, and presided over performances at the National Opera of Latvia. He also held the post of artistic director of the Chamber Opera and Music and Arts Salon of Riga and served as Assistant Director of the Bolshoi Theater in Moscow, where he performed and conducted at the Kremlin.

Bogolubov arrived in Montreal in 1995, where he is in great demand as a recitalist and accompanist (University of Quebec at Montreal and the Choeur du Richelieu). In addition to the works of contemporary Canadian and European composers, his repertoire includes masterworks by Bartók, Beethoven, Chopin, Liszt, Prokofiev, Rachmaninoff, and Ravel.

In January 2007 he performed the premiere of Three Chromicons (an original multimedia work) and "Automne" (by Canadian composer Jean Chatillon) in the "Série Prestige" of the Société de concerts St-Bruno, Quebec, Canada. He is a two-time recipient of the Orpheus Award conferred by the Delian Society (2005 and 2007).

A man of great culture and learning, Bogolubov is an ardent student of yoga and philosophy.
